Founded by our owners, Kjell and Karin Jakobsson, Dandelion Child aims to support and provide resources to orphaned children living in vulnerable conditions.
The project’s name symbolizes the strength and resilience of the dandelion, reflecting the children's potential to thrive despite challenging circumstances.
Through various initiatives, Dandelion Child works to create better conditions for these children's futures, focusing on education, health, emotional support, and self-sufficiency.
The organization’s history is rooted in a desire to give back to society and foster long-term positive change for children in need.

FC Rosengård – Football For Life
Room Republic’s main partner from 2024
Football for Life, led by FC Rosengård since 2008, uses football to empower young girls in society and contributes to achieving global goals, particularly Goal 5 (Gender Equality) and Goal 10 (Reduced Inequality). Room Republic is proud to be the main partner and to strengthen the project’s commitment to sustainable development and equality. The program started in rural South Africa, the same area where our charity organization Dandelion Child is active. In 2023, we contributed a minibus and bicycles to safely transport young girls to training and matches, and we are also discussing the development of an artificial turf field.

Our initiative with the municipality and the tourism industry in Hässleholm
A hotel is nothing without local attractions, a thriving business community, and a lively countryside.
In 2021, Hotel Statt in Hässleholm took the initiative to start the economic association Outdoor Hässleholm and launch a project aimed at developing Hässleholm and its surroundings into an attractive outdoor destination.
Supported by LEADER and the EU’s rural development program, the association promotes sustainable place development through nature tourism. This project contributes to several global goals, especially Goal 8 (Decent Work and Economic Growth) and Goal 11 (Sustainable Cities and Communities), by creating jobs and increasing interest in rural areas. By attracting more visitors to the region and strengthening the tourism sector with activities such as hiking, cycling, and cultural experiences, the project contributes to a vibrant and sustainable countryside.
The association consists of a mix of local companies in the tourism sector working together to put Hässleholm on the map as an outdoor destination.

Through successful collaboration with Samhall and the municipality's daily operations, Hotel Statt Hässleholm works to achieve several global goals, particularly Goal 8 (Decent Work and Economic Growth) and Goal 10 (Reduced Inequality).
Samhall and Daily Operations' mission is to create meaningful and developmental jobs for people with disabilities through real employment, focusing on individuals' strengths and opportunities. By including these groups in our operations, we ensure that all employees receive the right support and conditions to contribute.
We actively match individuals' skills with tasks, promoting an inclusive and sustainable work environment. This work also strengthens our commitment to social sustainability and contributes to a more equitable job market. Together, we create important jobs that make a difference, focusing on what each individual can contribute, not limitations.

a Difference
Fundraising for Ukraine
In 2022, Room Republic raised 500,000 SEK in support of Ukraine. All our hotels contributed a full day’s lodging revenue to the effort.
This initiative aimed to provide vital supplies and financial aid to those affected by the war. Through this collaboration, we built strong local engagement where businesses and individuals could contribute, showcasing collective commitment to making a difference.
This effort contributes to Goal 16 (Peace and Justice) and Goal 1 (No Poverty) by providing direct support to those most in need during a crisis.
ResQ
Reducing Food Waste
Food waste is a significant global problem that affects both the environment and resources, closely tied to the UN’s global goals, particularly Goal 12 (Responsible Consumption and Production).
ResQ Club actively works to reduce food waste by collaborating with restaurants, cafés, and grocery stores to sell surplus food to consumers. Grand Hotel Halmstad has joined ResQ Club, helping to reduce food waste.
The goal is to drastically cut food waste and create a more circular economy.

Environmental management system at all our hotels
A Green Key certification shows guests that our facilities are making a positive impact on the environment. Green Key is a leading international eco-label for tourist facilities.
Green Key-certified establishments actively work to minimize environmental impact through measures such as reducing energy and water consumption, using renewable energy, recycling, and purchasing eco-friendly cleaning products and organic foods. Additionally, these establishments work with social responsibility, communication, and cooperation with guests and other stakeholders.
